What is the difference between the ACT and SAT?
The ACT (American College Test) is an achievement test, measuring what a student has learned in school. The ACT has 4 components: English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and an Essay (optional).
The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is an aptitute test, testing reasoning and verbal abilities. The SAT has 4 components: Evidence Based Reading,Writing, Mathematics with a calculator and Mathematics without a calculator.

ATTENTION JUNIORS
The PSAT test will be given at Falmouth High School on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
- This is a practice SAT test that helps you prepare for four-year colleges that require testing results for admission.
- The test measures critical reading, math reasoning, and writing skills.
- Only Juniors are eligible to qualify for scholarship programs through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation based on your test results.
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to take the test under standard conditions unless they have prior approval form the College Board.

- Remember, this is PRACTICE! Your scores are only reported to you and your guidance counselor.
