Consultation with teachers and staff occur to promote better learning and classroom performance. The Adjustment Counselor is a member of the multidisciplinary team responsible for reviewing students who have been identified as struggling and helps develop a plan of action to address identified needs. The Adjustment Counselor acts as a liaison between students, their families and community resources and assists in addressing the problems hindering a child’s adjustment in school, including struggles within the family system. The school Adjustment Counselor’s goal is to help identify and teach healthy coping strategies and facilitate any necessary community referrals to meet the needs of students thereby reducing barriers to learning.

School Psychologist

School psychologists assist students in succeeding academically, socially, and emotionally. Their principle objective is to apply scientific values of learning and behavior to improve school-related difficulties and to facilitate the learning and development of children. They collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students.

School psychologists offer comprehensive psychological and psycho-educational evaluations, as well as consult with school personnel in relation to students' learning, behavior, and environments. They provide individual, group, and organizational interventions, including counseling. School psychologists work with children individually and in groups. Additionally, they provide trainings to teachers regarding various learning and mental health topics (e.g., behavior management, referral process, ADHD, etc.).
