No Guff
Poem by Room 36
North Falmouth School
2017-2018
Welcome to our school, we are lots of fun
We care about people and get our work done
We are trustworthy, courteous and kind
The best group of kids you will ever find
A special way we celebrate this good attitude
Is No Guff Week ‘cause we are never rude
We don’t say mean things, we don’t talk dirt
At the end of the week we get a t-shirt
Falmouth is proud of our No Guff oath
Praise People, Help Others, we try to do both
The things that we do make us a good friend
No Guff will be with us to the very end
No Guff Poem
Can you go for one whole day
Watching everything you type or say
Every one of us here has the same choice
To keep it positive, we all have a voice
Don’t complain, swear, curse, or cuss
Try this for a week as you get off the bus
No drama, baggage or making a fuss
It’s not about you, it’s all about us
“It wasn’t me!” is the way we cop out
Of telling someone what they shouldn’t talk about
People get hurt and can’t always express
Damage is done, we’ve created a mess
Have the courage to tell others to stop
Now, how does it feel to be at the top
We set the tone for our school and this town
Falmouth is where no one's put-down

Remember Me?
My name is gossip.
I have no respect for justice.
I maim without killing. I break hearts and ruin lives.
The more I’m quoted, the more I am believed.
I flourish at every level of society.
My victims are helpless.
They cannot protect themselves against me because I have no name and no face.
To track me down is impossible.
The harder you try, the more elusive I become.
I am nobody’s friend.
Once I tarnish a reputation, it is never the same.
I topple governments and wreck marriages.
I ruin careers and cause sleepless nights, heartaches and indigestion.
I spawn suspicion and generate grief.
I make innocent people cry in their pillows. Even my name hisses.
I am called GOSSIP.
Office gossip – shop gossip – party gossip – telephone gossip.
I make headlines and headaches.
REMEMBER, before you repeat a story, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it fair? Is it necessary?
If not, do not repeat it. KEEP QUIET.
Great minds discuss ideas … Average minds discuss events … Shallow minds discuss people … Which are you?
