FHS SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
Monday, May 4, 2026 ~ 3:30 pm ~ Falmouth High School Library
Attendance: Betsy Boze, Paula Carlson Cahill, Jolie Drury, Mike Feeney and Alan Harris.
Dr. Harris welcomed us.
We unanimously approved today’s Agenda.
We approved the March 2026 meeting Minutes once Betsy’s last name is corrected spelled as
Boze.
There is no student voting team for today’s meeting.
Navigating the Future - Dr. Harris gave an outline. It’s been proposed to renovate Lawrence,
close Morse Pond and have Teaticket become a universal preschool, with the grade configuration
as 8-12 at FHS, 5-7 at Lawrence and K-4 to fit in the 3 other elementary schools. Falmouth has
been accepted for state assistance for the Lawrence renovation, scheduled for Fall 2030.
Fall 2030: Grade 8 will be at FHS, Grades 6-7 will be at Morse Pond, Grade 5 will stay at their
elementary schools during the Lawrence renovation project.
School committee is to decide the permanent grade configuration - if it will remain the same or if
it will change to Grades K-5 at the elementary schools, Grades 6-8 at Lawrence and FHS Grades
9-12. If school committee decides that Grades 6 -8 will be at Lawrence, Grade 8 would return to
Lawrence in 2032 when construction is completed. We do not know the date when school
committee will make their decision. Staffing decisions would wait until that decision is made.
Handbook: Dr. Harris thanked the Council for their Handbook suggestions. Faculty Council
was meeting today and planned to review our suggestions regarding excused absences. Next, our
recommendations go to Dr. Tellier and Mary Gans (legal counsel).
Betsy recommended a full review next year to edit so the handbook presents in the same voice
throughout and any contradictory items are resolved and Jolie agreed.
Member Recruitment for Fall: Jolie and Betsy will remain as Council members. Suggestions
were to keep in the weekly and to have sign ups at Freshman Orientation in August.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:05 pm.
